The inception of Osh Pedagogical Institute (1939-1951)

Established in 1939 in the southern region of Kyrgyzstan, the Osh Pedagogical Institute addressed the shortage of educators by launching a specialized training center. Located in Osh City (second-largest city in Kyrgyzstan, located in the south of the country and often referred to as the "capital of the south".), this institute offered an all-encompassing 2-year program. It aims to train university teachers in teaching subjects such as History and Philology, Physics, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Geography.

Foundation of Osh State Pedagogical Institute (1951-1992)

On June 26, 1951, the Council of Ministers of the USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics) formalized the establishment of the Osh State Pedagogical Institute through Directive №511-193 / 1. In the academic year 1955-1956, the pioneer group of students completed their studies across various disciplines under the guidance of the most competent university teachers. Subjects include German, Russian, and English languages, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Specialty care.

Osh State Pedagogical Institute's Ascending Journey (1st Graduation Year)

Over the years, the number of graduates from Osh State Pedagogical Institute witnessed a steady rise. In the academic year 1970-1971, the institute conferred degrees upon 269 graduates, with the count of Ph.D. recipients seeing a twofold increase from 16 to 112 across 16 different ethnic nationalities. By the conclusion of the 1980s, the institute's medical faculty grew to encompass 435 members, comprising 4 doctors of Science and Professors, 136 Candidates of Science and Associate Professors, as well as 295 Instructors.

Beginning and Leadership of Osh State University - International Medical Faculty (1992 – Present)

Formalizing the aim of fostering socio-economic and cultural advancement in Southern Kyrgyzstan, the establishment of Osh State University took place on June 17, 1992. This significant step was taken through a Presidential Decree of the Kyrgyz Republic, building upon the foundation of the Osh State Pedagogical Institute. Mr. Bakyt Zholchubekovich Beshimov assumed the role of Rector, leading the university from its inception until 1998, during a tenure marked by dedicated service and leadership.
